When did "crap" and "piss" all of a sudden turn into kiddie words?

I remember watching cartoon network when I was small and they never used any of those words. I watch two shows yesterday, the one with the gay sailor kid and the one with the blue bird( i think its a blue jay) and I was surprised how much vulgar language was in it. 0.o has the list of "kidde" curses gone up since my long break of not watching cartoons?
