Why is my betta dazed + bloated in the mornings?

I would say not. I had a Betta that did this and it was from feeding him too much. Long story short he lived for about 6 more months and then his side literally exploded. So, my advice check how much you're feeding him, and cut back a little. But that's just what it sounds like to me.
