Question about the ghosts in Hogwarts?

So JK Rowling explains this whole ghost phenomenon with Sirius Black's death. Harry asked why Black didn't become a ghost and someone (I forgot) explained to him that it was because those who become ghosts are those who are not brave enough / do not have the will to move onward into the next dimension, such as Myrtle and Sir Nicholas.
