Is asins creed ant-christian/religion?

I am a devout christian, and Ive heard that this was a pretty awesome game, but I dont know if it would be hypocritical of me to play a game where you go around slaying priests and popes. I know that it takes place before the church reformation while it was corrupt at the time, but I dont know, what do you think?
