Is chinese food vegetarian?

I'm a vegetarian and I eat vegetable lo-mein and vegetable rice. A while ago, I had asked one chinese restaurant if theirs is vegetarian, and it was, so I just umed everyone's was. Is this true? Or is it made with beef broth/bouillon/etc
