Is calling a friend ugly that mean?

I have an english teacher that made a website. the website is like a myspace or facebook. we are allowed to post disscusions and other things like that. i posted a riddle that said a random girl went up to a random ugly guy and kissed him. this guy was as ugly as (Name). why did she kiss him. because of this, i got kicke off the site and i got 2 days lunch detention. i said that as a jok too. do you think thi as blown out of proportion
