Do you need a certain type of tripod for a certain type of video camera?

all consumer cameras that are made for tripods will accept a 1/4"-20 thread mounting bolt on the tripod head. the tripod you picked is for a still photography camera. it will work for static or lock down shots. the head type recommended for video is a "pan-tilt" which allows moving the camera side-to-side or up-and-down while shooting and camera will stay level with the horizon.
